Before the brand: one-way video interviewing

One-way video interviewing looks efficient on paper. Candidates record answers in their own time, recruiters review at double speed, everyone saves hours. In practice the saving is smaller than promised, because someone still has to watch every recording, and if you're watching them all you might as well have run the interviews. The bigger issue is what a recording actually measures. Where Compono differs

Spark Hire's Meet and Recruit suite is a genuinely strong pre-hire evaluation stack: it predicts how an individual will perform in a role, screens at volume and runs the workflow. The evaluation is of the candidate in isolation, though. There's no measured culture or team dataset behind it, and once the person starts, the hiring signal stops; both product lines end at the point of hire.

Does Spark Hire assess candidates?

Yes. Spark Hire Meet includes behavioural assessments derived from Chally, a credible predictive-assessment business it acquired in 2023, alongside one-way video interviews and automated reference checks. The assessments predict individual fit for a role; they don't draw on a culture or team dataset, which is where Compono's approach differs.

Does Spark Hire cover engagement or development?

No. Both Spark Hire product lines end at the point of hire, and video interview data is retained for up to a year on an active subscription. Compono carries the same people data into Engage for culture and climate, Develop for capability and Assure for competency and credentialling.
