For retail

Hire the floor on fit.
Customers come back.

Compono is an applicant tracking system (ATS) and employee engagement platform for retailers and consumer brands hiring store teams at volume across sites. It runs the posting and the pipeline every hiring system runs, and ranks applicants on fit for the role, the store team and your brand. If rostering is the job, buy a workforce management tool.

How it shows up for retail

A store manager and two staff working the floor of a small shop in the morning

Every store hire costs more than the roster shows

The cost is the advertising, the manager's hours, the training, the mistakes in the first month and the sales you do not make while the position is short. None of that appears on a store's wage line.

Replacing one employee can cost between one-half and two times their annual salary, and that is described as a conservative estimate.

Two stores, same brand, different numbers

One store runs well and the next one down the road does not, on the same catchment and the same range. The difference is how the team works together, which nobody measures, so head office attributes it to the manager and moves on.

Gallup's meta-analysis of more than 100,000 teams links team-level engagement to profitability and turnover.

The seasonal intake leaves no record behind

You hire 80 people for the peak, keep the good ones, and by March nobody can say who those people were, what they were assessed on, or who interviewed them. Next November the work starts from nothing.

Time and wages records have to be kept for seven years under the Fair Work Act. The hiring evidence behind them usually lives in a manager's inbox.

Everything a good system tracks.
And what only Compono finds.

Compono Engage

An employee engagement platform that compares store with store

  • Like any engagement platformSatisfaction scores and response rates, per store
  • And what only Compono findsWhat the strong stores do differently

Engage runs the staff survey and reports a satisfaction score per store. It also measures culture across 12 validated dimensions, current against the culture your people say the work needs, then cuts it by location, division and tenure. That is how you find what the strong stores do differently and hire for it.

Compono Develop

A learning management system (LMS) for induction that finishes

  • Like any LMSInduction assignment, signatures and refresher dates
  • And what only Compono findsWhether the new starter is ready for the floor

Develop assigns the induction path by role, handles the food-handling or safety refresher before it lapses, and shows the manager progress without them chasing it. The signatures an induction folder collected sit on the person's record, and assessment inside the path says whether the new starter is ready for the floor.

Common questions

Yes. Compono Hire is a full applicant tracking system (ATS): job templates, multi-board posting, applications in one pipeline and a ranked shortlist. Retailers usually buy it for the ranking, because collecting applications was never the hard part. Choosing between them quickly, store by store, is.

That is the normal setup. Head office owns the templates and the culture benchmark, and managers get permissions to post a role, review the ranked list, interview and move people along. The consistency is built into the template, so a store cannot accidentally hire against the brand.

Yes, and the part that pays off is what happens afterwards. Everyone who applied stays in your talent pool with their profile intact, so next peak starts with a ranked list of people who already fit rather than a fresh ad spend.

Yes. Engage segments results by location, division, job level and tenure, so you can put two stores beside each other and see where the way they work differs. That is the input to a hiring benchmark rather than a report.

No, and it does not do payroll or award interpretation either. Those are process problems your workforce management system handles. Compono sits beside it and answers who to hire and how the team actually works.

It depends on headcount rather than store count. From 100 to 500 people, one product runs circa $7k to $13k AUD a year depending on the band, and a second product comes down by about 30%. The bands are published on the pricing page.

Head office is Brisbane, with offices in Christchurch, London and New York. Data is hosted in Australia and New Zealand wherever your team sits, and the platform is ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certified. Roles post to SEEK and the major Australian and New Zealand boards, and the same posting flow covers the boards you already use in another market.
