About the Role
We currently have openings for Special Educational Needs Teachers to work with children who need extra support. This includes children with physical, learning, emotional, behavioural and communication difficulties.
What you will do:
- Planning and preparing lessons
- Teaching students on an individual or small class basis
- Setting assessments and exams to measure progress
- Checking and assessing student coursework
- Giving students feedback and helping them to develop
- Attending parent-teacher interviews
- Liaising with teachers, speech therapists, educational psychologists, physiotherapists and psychiatrists
- Writing reports and developing student objectives
- Coordinating Assistant Educators and other support staff
- Utilising special equipment and facilities
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor of Special Education
- Relevant State Teacher Registration Authority
- Understanding of and desire to plan and implement innovative, engaging and authentic learning programs
- Excellent ability to understand a diverse range of student learning needs, and the ability to guide learning based on on-going formative assessment
- Commitment to developing strong partnerships with parents and guardians
- Capacity to plan and teach independently
- Current First aid and CPR
- Relevant working with children check
